Is GOVS the right fit for you?
There's no single kind of GOVS student. We serve Ohio students in grades 9-12 - including adults working toward their diploma until they turn 22 - who, for all kinds of reasons, need a different way to finish high school. Here's who we're built for, and the honest truth about who does best here.

GOVS is built for students who need school to work differently
Our students come from every kind of situation - from younger students to working adults. You might recognize yourself, or your child, in one of these.
If your reason isn't listed here, that doesn't mean GOVS isn't for you. The thread that ties our students together is simple: traditional school wasn't working, and they still wanted to graduate.
Behind on credits
Graduating on time stopped feeling possible, and you want a real path to the finish line.
Anxiety or mental health needs
A large, busy building makes learning harder than it should be.
Health conditions
Illness, treatment, or appointments keep you from attending in person.
Bullying or an unsafe setting
You shouldn't have to walk back into that every day.
Work and family responsibilities
You have a job to hold or a family to help support, sometimes both.
Parenting students.
You're raising kids of your own and need school to flex around them.
Athletes, performers, and travelers.
Your schedule moves, and school needs to move with it.
A better way to learn
Traditional school simply never fit the way you work best.
Whether you're nearby or across the state, you're fully supported
GOVS is built so that distance never decides how good your experience is.
Prevention
you're still in school but slipping, and you need to change course before things get worse.
Recovery
you've already fallen behind, stepped away, or run out of time at another school, and you want a real way back.

GOVS works best for students who can manage their own time
We'd rather be honest with you now than have you frustrated later.
GOVS is fully asynchronous - there are no live classes, so no one is sitting beside you every hour reminding you to log on. The students who do best here are the ones who can take ownership of their schedule and put in steady, independent work.
If that's not your strength yet, that's okay - you won't be doing it alone. Academic coaches, and tutors are here to help you build those habits. But it's worth knowing going in: the freedom is the reward, and it asks something of you in return.
