Technology & Chromebooks
Every GOVS student gets a school-issued Chromebook to do their work. Here's how the program works, how to care for your device, and where to get help when something goes wrong.

Every student gets a Chromebook
GOVS provides each student with a Chromebook through our 1:1 device program, so you have what you need to log in and learn from day one. Before a device is issued, a parent or guardian attends an orientation and signs the use agreement.
You'll log in with your @mygovs.com account, and all your work saves automatically to your Google Drive - reachable from any internet-connected device.
Take care of your device
The Chromebook is yours to use, and yours to look after. A few essentials:
- Keep food and drinks away from it
- Carry it closed, never by the screen
- Clean the screen only with a soft, dry cloth
- Report any damage or issues to GOVS right away
- Never take it to an outside repair shop - bring tech issues to us
Lost, damaged, or missing devices may carry repair or replacement costs, so treat it with care and report problems early.

Safe, filtered, and supported
GOVS Chromebooks include an internet content filter that meets federal CIPA requirements, in or out of school. The devices come ready to use with Google's education tools, update automatically, and don't need extra virus protection.
Students are expected to follow the acceptable-use guidelines in the student handbook and act as good digital citizens online.
