The GOVS graduation experience

For many of our students, walking across the graduation stage is a moment they weren't sure they'd ever have. At GOVS, it's real - and here's exactly what it looks like.

Walk in a full ceremony every June

GOVS holds a real, in-person graduation ceremony each June. Every student who meets their requirements is invited to walk - cap, gown, and all - with their name read aloud as they cross the stage.

It's the same milestone moment you'd picture at any high school, and for our graduates, it's often even sweeter for how hard they worked to get there.

Caps, gowns, and your family in the seats

You don't have to worry about the details. GOVS provides caps and gowns to graduates free of charge, sized and handed out before the big day.

And graduation is a family affair - your people are there in the seats to watch you walk, cheer your name, and celebrate everything it took to get here.

GOVS student earning a real Ohio high school diploma

Earn a real Ohio diploma, not a GED

The diploma you receive is a real Ohio high school diploma, issued by GOVS and held to the same state standards as any district. It is not a GED and not a certificate of completion.

It's the real thing - the same diploma earned at any public school in Ohio.

Finish over the summer? You're still celebrated.

Not everyone finishes on the same timeline, and that's okay. For students who complete their requirements over the summer, GOVS offers a smaller summer ceremony so your accomplishment is still recognized the way it should be.
