Attendance at GOVS isn't about sitting in a seat - it's about steady progress. Here's what's expected each week, how it's tracked, and what happens if you fall behind.
What's expected each week
GOVS has clear weekly minimums to keep you moving toward graduation:
- 25 hours of offline and online time per typical school week
- At least one lesson per day
- Log in daily
These are the minimums. You can always work ahead, and getting out in front gives you a cushion for the busy weeks.

How your hours add up
Your weekly hours come from two sources: online time spent working in VLA and approved offline hours for activities like work, reading, or testing. Together, these contribute to your weekly total.
If you're keeping up with lessons but find yourself short on hours, offline time can help bridge that gap.
Additionally, consider setting aside specific times each week for offline activities. This not only boosts your hours but also enhances your overall learning experience.
What happens if you fall behind
GOVS follows Ohio's attendance and truancy laws, but the goal is always to help, not to penalize. If your hours slip, here's the general path:
