Enrollment basics
No. You complete an online registration and our staff reaches out to schedule your start date. No district approval required.
Not yet. Don't withdraw from your current school until our office reaches out and confirms your next steps and start date.
Yes. GOVS is a tuition-free public school, funded like any Ohio district. There's never a bill.
Yes. New students start throughout the year. Your coursework and attendance are measured from your GOVS start date.
Who can attend
Any Ohio resident in grades 9-12, including adults working toward their diploma until they turn 22.
No. GOVS is statewide and fully online. The Franklin Student Center is there if you can reach it, but it's not required - most students live within driving distance, and the rest are fully supported from home.
Getting started
After we receive your transcript, your counselor builds a schedule around the credits you still need. You'll have a window after your start date to request changes before courses are locked in.
That's fine. Courses are assigned in half-credit increments, and your attendance is measured from your start date, so you begin right where you are.
You'll begin with virtual orientation and your GOVS Success classes to get comfortable with the platform before real coursework starts.
