The VLA curriculum
Your courses at GOVS come through the Virtual Learning Academy, or VLA - the online platform where you'll do your learning every day. Here's what's on it and how your courses work.

Choose from more than 100 courses
VLA offers over 100 courses spanning the full high school curriculum - core subjects like English, math, science, and social studies, plus a range of electives. New courses are added regularly, and the catalog is reviewed often to keep it current.
Your counselor assigns the specific courses you need based on your transcript and the credits still standing between you and graduation.
Every course meets Ohio's academic standards
These aren't generic online lessons. Every VLA course is fully aligned to Ohio's Academic Content Standards - the same standards that govern coursework at any public school in the state.
That alignment is part of what makes your diploma real and your credits transferable. You're doing genuine Ohio high school work, start to finish.

Reach your coursework 24/7
VLA is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There's no window you have to log in by and no class period you can miss - your courses are there whenever you're ready to work.
You move through each course unit by unit, submitting your work as you go and watching your progress add up toward each credit.
Earn credit by completing units and passing your courses
Most VLA courses are built from a set of units, and finishing a course means completing all of its units and earning an overall passing grade. Complete the course, earn the credit - and the credits stack toward your diploma.
Your teachers grade your submitted work and post your grades in VLA, so you can always see exactly where you stand.
