Nominate your favorite GOVS teacher for Project Excellence! CIO

The Project Excellence Committee of the Area Progress Council of Warren County, Inc. seeks to recognize and honor excellent teachers within the public schools in Warren County.  For over 30 years, the Area Progress Council has awarded nearly $500,000 to over 600 educators. They are asking for your assistance in identifying exceptional educators who demonstrate excellence in instruction.  If you have had a GOVS teacher make a difference in your life, you should nominate them for this award.

Last year, GOVS' own Mrs. Lisa Koch (English teacher & all-around amazing teacher) won the award!

There are two ways you can submit a nomination form:

  1. COMPLETE AN ONLINE NOMINATION FORM on the Area Progress Council website.  There is a black box that says Project Excellence Nomination Form.  Click there to nominate a deserving GOVS teacher.

  2. Or, you can PRINT A PAPER NOMINATION FORM, complete it,  and mail it to the Area Progress Council.

Winners receive a cash award and will be recognized at a banquet on May 6, 2020, at the Warren County Career Center.

Completed nominations are due by February 28, 2020.

Another Scholarship Opportunity! Scholarship

Here's an interesting scholarship opportunity!  Traven Watase lives in Hawaii.  He is the founder of the PB&J Scholarship Fund, which is focused on helping students whose test scores or GPAs might not be the best, but have the drive to succeed.

When Traven attended Farrington High School in Hawaii, he was determined to go to college but his test scores and GPA were low, so he got rejected a lot.  To give back to future students, he lived off of PB&J sandwiches during his first year of college so he could fund a scholarship for students like himself.  How cool is that?

The scholarship group is looking for students who have experienced challenges in their life and who have the drive to succeed.  This is open to all college-bound 12th graders at GOVS who plan on attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college in fall 2020.  The scholarship amount can be anywhere from $500 to $1000!
