Spring 2020 Ohio State Testing
Spring 2020 Testing is for all grade levels.
Why do you have to test?
The state of Ohio requires all students to take end-of-course tests every year, called the Ohio State Tests.
7th graders test in English and Math. 8th graders test in English, math, and science.
If you are in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, you have seven OST's you have to complete (and pass) in order to meet requirements for a high school diploma. In order to graduate, you need to accumulate 18 testing "points" on these tests. You can take the tests multiple times. The seven tests are:
- English/Language Arts I
- English/Language Arts II
- Algebra I (or Integrated Math I)
- Geometry (or Integrated Math II)
- US History
What tests do you have to take?
To see your individual Test Schedule, CLICK HERE. You can then enter your 4-digit student ID number in the box. The website will tell you which test(s) you have to take. It will also show you a list of all the testing locations, dates, and times.
If you do not know your ID number, you can find it on your student ID card. Or, even easier, your student ID is your VLA User Name!
The main GOVS testing site is NO LONGER in the conference rooms @ the GOVS Office in Lebanon. This was discussed in the GOVS Success class you completed on your first day this year. The main GOVS testing site has been moved to Great Wolf Lodge in Mason (right by Kings Island).
Besides Mason, you can also test in:
- Franklin (at the St. Mary's Learning Center)
- Hamilton (at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel)
- Tri-County (at Princeton High School)
- Middletown (location TBA)
- West Clermont/Eastgate (inside Crossroads Church Eastside by Jungle Jims)
- Columbus (location TBA)

You are able to sign-up for a test session and reserve your spot -- however, don't worry; you can simply attend any session and be able to take your test(s). One test per session. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the session begins for registration. Please bring your GOVS ID to testing!
After you enter your student ID number above and determine which test(s) you need to take, you should do some reviewing for the tests.
GOVS provides three different methods of review:
- Interactive practice tests via the Ohio Means Jobs website.
- Interactive practice tests via the Ohio Department of Education website.
- Downloadable paper practice tests for every test, including additional review materials.
