State Required End-of-Course Testing to Begin in April

The State of Ohio requires End-of-Course (EOC) testing for students in Grades 7 – 12.  Seventh graders will take English 7 and Math 7, eighth graders English 8, Math 8, and Science 8.  If you are enrolled in Algebra 1 and will earn high school credit, you will take the Algebra I EOC test.

High school students must take seven EOC tests in order to meet requirements for a high school diploma.  For each EOC test you take, you will earn graduation points based on your score on the test (Advanced – 5, Accelerated – 4, Proficient – 3, Basic – 2, Limited – 1).  To achieve your diploma you must earn a minimum of 18 graduation points and complete all course requirements.  EOC tests will be administered in the following content areas:  English I, English II, Algebra I or Integrated Math I, Geometry or Integrated Math II, Biology, American History and American Gov’t.  You will take the required test the year you complete the course requirements.   If you do not score at a level to earn the 18 graduation points you can retake a test during the next testing window.

IMPORTANT REMINDER!  Students who fail to participate in required testing 2 years in a row will not be allowed to attend any online school in Ohio.  This means that you will be withdrawn from the Greater Ohio Virtual School after the 2017-2018 school year and will be required to enroll in your district of residence if you do not attend and take ALL of your required State Testing assignments.  You will not be permitted to attend any Electronic School/Virtual School in the State of Ohio.  Ohio Revised Code 3314.26 was discussed in our Orientation Classes upon enrollment in the Greater Ohio Virtual School.
